Betty Carlton Cope

TAMPA - Mrs. Betty Carlton Cope, 79, passed away Wed., March 9, 2011 at the University Village Nursing Home in Tampa. Mrs. Cope was born March 6, 1932 in Fort Meade, FL and was a longtime resident of Avon Park, FL. Mrs. Cope worked in physical therapy at Walker Memorial Hospital for 29 years. She was a member of Avon Park Seventh Day Adventist Church and she was a graduate of Fort Meade High School. Mrs. Cope was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Thelma Leverette Martin, first husband, Randall Carlton, son, Wayne Carlton. She is survived by her husband, Jay Cope, Tampa, FL; son, Byron Carlton, Chattanooga, TN; daughter, Patricia Sullivan, Chattanooga, TN; three step-children, John Cope, Esther Krumholz, David Cope; sister, Barbara Delgado, Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Jonathan Clayton and Ashley Carlton. Visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm, Sat., March 12, 2011 at Hancock Funeral Home, Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Sun., March 13, at Hancock Funeral Home Chapel.
