FORT MEADE - Mrs. Betty S. Grunholzer, 84, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at her home of heart failure. Mrs. Grunholzer was born April 4, 1930 in Mulberry, FL and moved to Fort Meade many years ago from Medulla, FL. She started her working career as a beautician, and later became a homemaker to care for her family. As a member of New Life Baptist Church in Fort Meade, Mrs. Grunholzer was very active in her church, where she taught children's Sunday School and helped wherever she was needed. She was also a member of the Fort Meade Historical Society, a very active in the Fort Meade Miner's Booster Club, and a graduate of Mulberry High School, class of 1948.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mildred Coleman Stephens, husband, James H. Grunholzer, Sr., and sister, Elizabeth Peters.
Mrs. Grunholzer is survived by her son, James H. Grunholzer, Jr. and wife Donna, Fort Meade, FL; daughter, June Geissler and husband Bryan, Spokane, WA; sisters, Joyce Canova, Laverne, AL, and Anna M. Wyman, Winter Haven, FL; grandchildren, Rick Geissler, Jamie Geissler, Hallie Hierlihy, James H. Grunholzer, III, and Matthew Grunholzer.
Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joe Parrish officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contribution to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823, or to the Florida Baptist Children's Homes, P.O.
