FORT MEADE - Mrs. Beverly Mae DeLong, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Tampa, FL. Mrs. DeLong was born July 12, 1938 in Muskegon, Michigan,a d was a winter visitor to Fort Meade for the last 16 years. She was a retired bus driver for the Orchard View Schools in Muskegona, a 1956 graduate of Muskegon High School, a graduate of Muskegon Community College, and a member of the Muskegon Heights Eagles Auxiliary. Mrs. DeLong was an avid golfer and loved to play games. One of her favorite games and sports was bowling, where in Muskegon, she held the title of the first woman to top a 700 series in a bowling score. Mrs. DeLong loved life, her family, and her friends. In Fort Meade, FL she was very active, and a member of the Red Hatters Association.
Mrs. DeLong was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle Victor Chidester and Mary Kovats Chidester.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dan DeLong, Fort Meade, FL; daughters, Dawn TenBrink and husband Larry, Spring Lake, MI, and Michelle Wember and friend Troy Davidson, Revenna, MI; brother, Michael Chidester and wife Joan, Muskegon, MI; grandchildren, Zakary TenBrink, Brooke TenBrink, J.D. Holmes and wife Whitney, and Alayna Robinson; great-granddaughter, Sadie Danielle Holmes.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date by the family, and held in Muskegon, MI in the spring.
