Mr. Bill Prather

FORT MEADE - Mr. Billie C. "Bill" Prather, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL. Mr. Prather was born April 8, 1936 in Canal Point, FL and was a longtime resident of Fort Meade. He retired from the City of Fort Meade gas department after a long tenure of nearly 50 years, a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Meade, and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Mr. Prather was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Prather; brothers, Wayne Upshaw and Alford Upshaw; sister, Cassie Brown.

He is survived by his daughters, Bridgett Davis & husband Alvie, Lakeland, FL, Lisa Rogers, Lake Helen, FL, Carol Johnson, Lake City, FL, Linda Gargus and husband Dennis, Bowling Green, FL; sisters, Joyce Drawdy and husband Dennis, Center Hill, FL, Linda Adams and husband Barry, Bushnell, FL; grandchildren, Dawn, Heather, Ashley, Nate, Noah, and Kaitlyn; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2018 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 704 S. Perry Ave., Fort Meade. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors.
