FORT MEADE - Blenda Lee Ray, 59, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Tidewell Hospice in Arcadia, FL. Blenda was born August 5, 1960 in Bartow, FL and had resided in Sarasota for several years, after being a longtime Fort Meade resident. She was a licensed barber and cosmetologist, a 1978 graduate of Fort Meade High School, and of the Baptist faith.
Blenda was preceded in death by her son, Branden Dykes; infant brother, Clifford Moore; grandparents, George and Haughty Neely and Mitch and Ethel Ray.
She is survived by her son, Travis Dykes and wife Kathryn, Sarasota, FL; mother, Marilyn Gittens and Mike, Blairsville, GA; father, Doug Ray and Phyllis, Fort Meade, FL; grand-daughter, Jordan; an uncle, several aunts, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade, with memorial services following at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ed Kendrick officiating. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations in Blenda's memory to: Feed the Children, 333 N. Meridian, Oklahoma City, OK 73107.
