Dorothy M. Lunsford-Griffith

LAKE WALES - Mrs. Dorothy Marie Lunsford-Griffith, 78, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 in Winter Haven of heart failure. Dorothy was born September 22, 1935 in Tiger Bay, FL and moved to Lake Wales from Fort Meade in 1994. She was the Deputy Clerk for the Polk County Court House for 18 years, a member of Fort Meade First Church of God where she served many years as a youth leader, and a Fort Meade High School graduate, Class of 1953.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel D. and Delma H. Walker, first husband, Joe J. Lunsford, sisters, Veda Gurlock and Ethel Roberts.
She is survived by her husband, William Griffith, Lake Wales, FL; sons, Michael Lunsford and wife Pam, Lake Wales, FL, Steve Lunsford, Ft. Myers, FL; step-son, Paul Griffith and wife Cindy, Boyack, NC; step-daughters, Patricia Carpenter and husband David, Ft. Myers, FL, Kristine Griffith, Sarasota, FL, Regina Griffith, Webb City, MO; brother, Edward Walker and wife JoAnn, Fort Meade, FL; grandchildren, Deana Rickman and husband Joe, Joseph Lunsford, Chase Lunsford and Elizabeth Woodard; one great-grandchild, Kaydee Parker.
Visitation will be held 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held 10:30am, Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at the First Church of God, 215 S. Perry Ave., Fort Meade with Rev. Travis Risner officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund of First Church of God or to The Gideons International, P.O.
