Durell "Duke" Evans

FORT MEADE - Mr. Durell A. "Duke" Evans, 88, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Lakeland, FL.  Mr. Evans was born November 29, 1925 in Cedar Springs, Georgia, and was a longtime resident of Fort Meade.  He was a retired warehouse manager for Mobil Chemial Co., a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy WW II veteran, attended the Dundee Baptist Temple, and a member of the Moose Lodge.      Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Ovetta "Beechie" Evans; son, Durell "Buckshot" Evans, Jr.; four brothers and three sisters.     He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Evans Davis, Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Andrew Davis and Michael Davis; two great-grandchildren; caregiver, Deborah Burchell, Lakeland, FL.     Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade.  Memorial services will follow at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
