Mrs. Ernestine B. Durrance

BOWLING GREEN - Mrs. Ernestine B. Durrance went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 10, 2016, five days before her 89th birthday. The daughter of M.E. and Rachel Brown, Ernestine was born March 15, 1927 in Bowling Green, FL, where she remained a life long resident. She was a 1945 graduate of Fort Meade High School, then married Larry W. Durrance on December 31, 1945 and raised three sons. As a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Bowling Green, Ernestine can be remembered as the lady who ran the church nursery for several decades, served on numerous church committees, and was well known for her gracious hospitality and cooking. Her children greatly appreciate being raised in the Christian home she provided and the guidance she gave each of them in her own way. Ernestine continued the love for her family working as a homemaker, along with being the owner and manager of the family business, Durrance & Sons, LLC.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Larry W. Durrance; parents, M.E. and Rachel Huddleston Brown; sister, Peggy Jean Brown; grand-daughter, Veronica Durrance.
She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Durrance and wife Diana, Wauchula, FL, Bruce Durrance and wife Janice, Bowling Green, FL, and Jeffri Durrance and wife Jo, Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Bobby Durrance and wife Martha, Lake Wales, FL, Shawn Durrance and wife Michelle, Bowling Green, FL, Heather Diaz and husband Zack, Lakeland, FL, Sharon Rivers and husband Anthony, Southeast Asia; fifteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Bowling Green. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary, and interment will be in Bowling Green Cemetery.
