FORT MEADE - Mr. Eugene R. Tucker, 79, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 in Lakeland of Dementia and Parkinson's Disease. Eugene was born Dec. 21, 1934 in Fort Meade, FL to Harry M. and Utie P. Tucker. After graduation from Fort Meade High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force as an MP in Germany. Eugene was a life long resident of Fort Meade, worked in the agriculture field for many years, and loved to fish in his spare time. Eugene was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry Edgar Tucker, Jack Cecil Tucker, Lesse Donald Tucker and Lawrence Joe Tucker. He is survived by his sister, Joy Storey, and husband Tommy, Fort Meade, FL who loved him beyond measure and took care of him for many years; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like express their gratefulness and appreciation to Cornerstone Hospice for their compassion and support during Eugene's illness, and to family members Lesse Tucker, Jr. and Charlene, Toni and Terry Johnson, Tommy and Beth Storey, Jr. and Mike Storey for their love and extending their help and support. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. from the graveside in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade with Chaplain Brad Beyer officiating.
