Florence Ann Lightsey Pollard

EAGLE LAKE - Mrs. Florence Ann Lightsey Pollard, 85, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL.  Mrs. Pollard was born August 22, 1938 in Tiger Bay, FL and was a longtime resident of Fort Meade and Bartow areas before moving to Eagle Lake, 27 years ago.  She worked  with Terry's TV in Bartow for many years, and retired from Publix Supermarkets as the Assistant Deli Manager in Bartow.   She was a 1956 graduate of Fort Meade High School where she played on the girls Basketball team; and she was a member of the Fort Meade Methodist Church where she served with the United Methodist Women and was the treasurer for the District Methodist Women.  

Mrs. Pollard was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Edwin Lightsey and Inez Hancock Lightsey; brother, Jack Lightsey and wife Joyce; sister, Kitty Reeves and husband Jack; granddaughter, Dodi Strickland, and son-in-law, Marty Owens.

She is survived by her loving husband Vincent Pollard; sons, Kenneth Ira Strickland and wife Sherry, and Dean Michael Strickland; daughter, Dorina Strickland Owens; eight grandchildren, Michelle Roberts and spouse Shannon,  Aubrey Daval and spouse Jean, Michael Strickland, Kristen Strickland, Grady Owens, Malcom Strickland, Collin Strickland; 17 great-grandchildren, Austin Harrell, Zackery Harrell, Zoe Harrell, Arizona Strickland, John Jr. Scarborough, Lane Strickland, Riley Bowman, T.J. Strickland, Zayla Daniels, Cynthia Roberts, Lilly Roberts, Layke Strickland, Leef Strickland, Levyi Strickland, Keeley, Zacharia, and Nile Daval; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Laine, Abel, Sophia and Elena.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade, FL.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bill Baldwin and Ronnie Mincey officiating.  Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
