Mr. Floyd J. Lewis

FORT MEADE - Mr. Floyd J. Lewis, 95, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at his home in Fort Meade, FL. Mr. Lewis was born November 6, 1923 at his home in Tuscola Co., Michigan and moved to Fort Meade in 1972. He was a farmer and truck driver for the United States Postal Service, a mechanic for the City of Bartow from 1973 until 1989, and a member of the Fort Meade First Church of God.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Luella Surine Lewis, and his wife of 68 years, Lorraine (Shortie) Lewis.

He is survived by his sons, James Lewis and wife Cathy, Philippi, WV, Perry Lewis and wife Virginia, Inboden, AR; daughters, Carol Childress and husband Donnie, and Susan Damon, all of Fort Meade, FL, Nancy Hershberger and husband Roy, Montone, IN, Mary Lou Lewis, Alamogordo, NM, Minnie Kester, Lakeland, FL; sisters, Fonda Bennett, Mulberry, FL and Doris Hendricks, Decheville, MI; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the First Church of God, 215 S. Perry Ave., Fort Meade, FL. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Pastor Travis Risner officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Fort Meade. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, donations may be made either to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823, or to First Church of God, 215 S. Perry Ave., Fort Meade, FL 33841.
