MARY FRANCES BEVIS LASTINGER

FORT MEADE - Mrs. Mary Frances Bevis Lastinger, 96, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Bartow, FL.  Mrs. Lastinger was born October 31, 1927 in Fort Meade, FL and after she married, she and her husband Leland, moved to Ocala where she worked for the Marion County School Board as an attendance clerk.  After their retirement she and her husband returned to Fort Meade after  30 years away from their hometown.  She was a 1946 graduate of Fort Meade High School, a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy, a member of First Baptist Church, Fort Meade, and loved traveling the United States With her husband.  

      Mrs. Lastinger was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Ruth Akins Bevis; husband Leland Lastinger; daughter, Pamela Jean Humphries; brothers, Edward Bevis and Ronald Bevis; and her sister, Margie Bevis.    

     She is survived by her son, Dwight Lastinger and wife Shana, Fort Meade, FL; daughters, Merilee Clifton and husband Bill, Longwood, FL, Ruth Lastinger, Inverness, FL;  nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and cousin, Keitha Blackford.

      Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kenny Slay officiating.  Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
