FORT MEADE - Mr. Freddie Robert Mooney, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at his home in Fort Meade, FL. Fred was born August 5, 1944 in Plant City, FL, and has been a longtime resident of Fort Meade. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving as a Frogman in the U.S. Navy. Following his service time, he worked as a certified welder and an HVAC repairman. Later in life he became the caretaker of the American Legion RV Park.
Fred had many interests over his lifetime including hunting, fishing, race car driving, and was a big fan of NASCAR. He enjoyed spending time working on various vehicles and took great pride in working on his yard. He was a member of the American Legion Post #23, where he served as Vice-Commander. He was also a free masons member of the Fort meade masonic Lodge #160 F&AM.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Johnson Mooney, and his sisters, Sylvia Mooney and Nadine Overton.
He is survived by his life partner, Anna Owen; his sons, Robbie Mooney, William Mooney (Crystal); daughter, Sally Brown (Jose); brother, Thomas Mooney(Jane); sisters, Diane Mooney, Donna Mooney, and Sandra Mooney; several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the Fort Meade American Legion, Post #23 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13th, 2022
