MIAMI - Mr. Bruce Eugene Cokeroft, age 79, passed away July 23rd, 2015 in Kendall, FL surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Birmingham, AL, but came to Miami at age 6 and grew up in N. Miami Beach. Gene graduated from Miami Edison High School in 1953. He is survived by Iris Cokeroft, his loving wife of 43 years; sister Bunny Robles, brothers Jerry (deceased), Jimmy, and Jeff; son, Bruce (Kellye) of Nashville, TN, daughters, Margene Secor (Craig), Richmond, VA, Elaine Lowy (Ken), and Janis Signorelli, both of Miami. Gene and Iris have 12 grand children and 4 great grand children, the youngest baby born within 3 hours of his passing. He served on the staff of the Orange Bowl Committee for 20 years, producing many parades and half-time shows. Gene was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for over 60 years, serving as a judge for 10 years and on many committees. He was also the tenor of the legendary 1961 international quartet champions, the Suntones. He was inducted into the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Hall of Fame, both with the Suntones and for his individual contributions to the organization. He was a premier arranger and vocal coach. He served as the director of the Singing Miamians chorus for over 40 years and produced many barbershop shows in Miami. Gene loved to fish and also enjoyed being a member of the Goldcoast Mac Computer Club. A Funeral service was held at Kendall United Methodist Church.
