Irene Winegard Childress

HASLET,, TX - Mrs. Irene Winegard Childress, 77, formerly of Wauchula, FL, passed away, Monday, February 12, 2024 in Fort Worth, TX.   Irene was born January 10, 1947 in Avon Park, FL where she was raised by her parents, William Sampson Winegard and Mary Viola Baucom Winegard,.  She then moved to Wauchula, FL and resided there for many years  until her move to Haslet, TX.  She was a retired ESE Para teacher at North Wauchula Elementary School for 40 years.   Irene was a graduate of Hardee High School, and also a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Wauchula.  

     She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Roy Winegard.  Irene is survived by her husband, Harold Childress, Haslet, TX;  daughters, Rachelle Childress, Haslet, TX, Shana Childress McNeal and husband Chris, Rhome, TX;  sisters, Helen Albritton, Wauchula, FL and Charlotte Winegard Mann, Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Dakota McNeal and Dawson McNeal, both of Rhome, TX.  

     Visitation will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL.   Funeral services will be held from the graveside at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Corinth Cemetery, Fort Meade with Pastor Jim Davis officiating.
