FORT MEADE - Mr. Jack L. Coulter, 79, passed away April 12, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Coulter was born April 30, 1930 and was a native and life long resident of Fort Meade. He was retired from Polk County School Board where he had worked as an elementary teacher for many years. Mr. Coulter was a Protestant, and U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran, serving in the Construction Battalion. He was a graduate of Fort Meade High School and Florida Southern College in Lakeland. While in college, he was on the Circus team and was the catch man for the trapeze sports team. Mr. Coulter was a dedicated writer and very patriotic and proud to be a part of the United States of America. Mr. Coulter was preceded in death by his sister, Frances. He is survived by his mother, Delanie Barber, Fort Meade; brothers, Joe Coulter, Jr., Hubert Coulter and Jimmy Coulter all of Fort Meade; half-brother, Calvin Barber, Wauchula; sister, Valeria Murray, Eldorado, CA and several nieces and nephews.
