LAKELAND - Mr. James A. "Bunky" Walker, Sr., 76, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 in Lakeland, FL. Mr. Walker was born September 27, 1944 in Winter Haven, FL and was a longtime resident of Lakeland. He was a 1964 graduate of Fort Meade High School, and a retired auto diesel mechanic 1st class, working with IMC Fertilizer for over 40 years. Mr. Walker was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, and loved to work on cars in his spare time, as well as reading and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger, and would do anything he could for anyone.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, David Mitchell Walker and Annie Belle Sturgis Walker; brother-in-law, James Beacham; sister-in-law, Patricia Walker; granddaughter, Naomi Meacham, and grandson Dartagnon Jaymes.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Betty Carol Walker, Lakeland, FL; sons, James A. Walker, Jr. and wife Janet, Anthony Lee Brissel, Terrence Wayne Brissel, all of Lakeland, FL, and Rodger Everett Brissel of Bowling Green, FL; daughters, Jennifer Gail McClaine and husband Mack, Fort Meade, FL, and Catherine Anne Keiffer and husband Ken, Fort Myers, FL; brother, Robert Walker, Lakeland, FL; sister, Betty Ann Beacham, Fort Meade, FL; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 6, 2021 at the Cornerstone Church of God, 10 S. Seminole Ave., Fort Meade. Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary at 11:00 a.m., and interment will be held with military honors in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
