FORT MEADE - Mr. James William Harrell, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at his home in Fort Meade. Mr. Harrell was born in Fitzgerald, GA on April 27, 1935, and moved to Fort Meade from Lake Wales in 1966. After retiring from Estech Chemical Co., he started his own trucking business, Sandhill Trucking, Inc. Mr. Harrell was a U.S. National Guard veteran, serving from 1952-1960, and a member of the Oak Park Baptist Church of Fort Meade. Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by his son, Audie L. Harrell; father, Jesse James Harrell; mother, Ila Mae Owens Harrell; brothers, Wilbur Harrell, Melvin Harrell, and Roger E. Harrell. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Myrna R. Harrell, Fort Meade, FL; sons, James D. Harrell and wife Rose, Winter Haven, FL, Rickey S. Harrell and wife Becky, Lakeland, FL, Michael W. Harrell and wife Katrina, Lakeland, FL, Scott A. Harrell and wife Jamie, Fort Meade, FL; daughter, Cathy L. Timmons and husband David, Fort Meade, FL; daughter-in-law, Denise M. Harrell, Fort Meade, FL; brothers, Roy Harrell, Monroe, GA and Charles Harrell, Fitzgerald, GA; 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, 307 E. Broadway, Fort Meade with Rev. Kenny Slay officiating.
