FORT MEADE - Mr. James Wayne Spieth, 85, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020 in Winter Haven, FL. Mr. Spieth was born November 17, 1934 in Fort Meade, FL where he grew up and spent his early years and graduated from Fort Meade High School in 1952. Following his graduation, he furthered his education and graduated from the University of Florida, and returned to Fort Meade where he became a teacher at Fort Meade High School. Mr. Spieth later assumed a position with the USDA, where his job connected him to many people while working in Florida, Virginia and Texas. He retired from the USDA as a Soil Conversation Service Manager, and returned to Fort Meade in 1996 where he has resided for the last 24 years.
Mr. Spieth was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Kenneth Spieth, Sr. and Murray Durrance Spieth; brother, A.K. Spieth, Jr.; and sister, Marian Spieth Martin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mrs. Alice Hedden Spieth, Fort Meade, FL; sons, Kenneth Spieth, Lexington, SC, Samuel Spieth and wife Tracey, Richmond, VA, and George Spieth and wife Barbara, Fort Meade, FL; daughter, Mary Robitaille and husband Mark, Plantation, FL; grandchildren, Sandy, David, Mary, Rachael, Dylan, Taylor, Michael and Miles.
