John Giannopoulos

FORT MEADE - Mr. Ioannis Nikolaos "John" Giannopoulos, 64, passed away at his home in Fort Meade, FL surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 22, 2023.  John was born November 2, 1958 in Karpathos, Greece and moved to Fort Meade from Queens, NY in 1986. He was the  owner/operator 'John's Drive-In Restaurant,' which has become an iconic landmark to Fort Meade.  John's love for his family just to create a legacy to build a business with his name, spread further into the community with his love for his friends.  The people of Fort Meade have been greatly blessed by his generosity with the assistance and growth of the youth of Fort Meade, because he knew that to teach people, you have to start young and instill an ethic into young people for them to progress as hard working adults like himself.   John's work ethic and love for his family and friends led him to be able to operate his family business for 37 years, and will continue on for many more years by his loving family.

     John was preceded in death by parents, Nikolaos Ioannis Giannopoulos and Zoe Piliaris Giannopoulos; and his grandson, Ayden Giannopoulos.

     He is survived by his loving wife, Toula Giannopoulos, Fort Meade, FL; sons, Nikolaos Giannopoulos and wife Popi, Winter Haven, FL, Kiki Bermudez, Wauchula, FL; daughters, Zoe Giannopoulos Prieto and husband Gabriel,  and Nikki Giannopoulos and fiance Brock Ramsey, all of Fort Meade, FL; brother, Mike Giannopoulos and wife Cathy, Winter Haven, FL, Kostas Vareltzis, Ignatios Vareltzis, George Vareltzis, all of Greece; and four grandchildren, Daniel, Yiannis, Georgia, Joaquin.

     Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 307 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL.  Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kenny Slay officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
