FORT MEADE - Mr. John W. "Jack" Lightsey, 82, passed away at his home in Fort Meade, FL on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Mr. Lightsey was born April 7, 1934 in Fort Meade, FL, where he was a lifelong resident and a member of the Fort Meade High School graduating class of 1952. He was a retired 20 year U.S. Army veteran who specialized in Radio Propogation, and he also retired from W.R. Grace & Co. in Mulberry, FL. Mr. Lightsey was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Meade and a member of the Fort Meade American Legion Post #23.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley E. and Inez Hancock Lightsey.
Mr. Lightsey is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Joyce W. Lightsey, Fort Meade, FL; daughter, Kathy Lightsey-Brady and husband Michael, Valdosta, GA; sisters, Katheryn Reeves, Fort Meade, FL, Florence Pollard and husband Vince, Eagle Lake, FL; grandchildren, Heather Brady, Michael Brady, Jr., Emily Brady; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, 135 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Interment with military honors will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
