Mrs. Joyce Lavonne Devane

FORT MEADE - Mrs. Joyce Lavonne DeVane, 85, passed away at her home in Fort Meade, FL on Sunday, June 12, 2016. Mrs. DeVane was born April 6, 1931 in Chicago, IL to her parents, Leland C. and Edna J. Nelson Noble, and moved to Fort Meade from Chicago in 1945 where she became a vital part of the community. Mrs. DeVane was a homemaker, member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, and a member of the Fort Meade Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Cheryl DeVane Wilson, and her granddaughter-in-law, Olivia Allen DeVane.

Mrs. DeVane is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Floyd K. DeVane of Fort Meade, FL who she married on April 1, 1950. She is also survived by her son, Kenny DeVane and wife Sandy Fort Meade, FL; grandchildren, Melissa Crews, Jason DeVane, Derek DeVane and wife Brooke and Kyle DeVane and wife Stephanie, all of Fort Meade, FL; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lucille Mitchell and husband Hershall, Fort Meade, FL, Shirley Randall, Freida Martin and husband Bill, all of Bartow, FL, and Ginny Morris and husband Claude, Sebring, FL.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, 307 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kenny Slay officiating, and interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
