LAKELAND - Mr. David Kemp Blanton, 66, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 in Lakeland, FL. Kemp was born July 21, 1948 in Orlando, FL, and was a resident of Lakeland for many years. He was a market supervisor for Publix Supermarkets and a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Lakeland. As a business entrepreneur, Kemp also founded Blanton Retail Services and All American Food Equipment in Lakeland. He was a 1966 graduate of Lakeland High School, attended Stetson University, a member of the Imperial Polk Lodge #345 of Lakeland, and a member of the Shriners.
Kemp was preceded in death by his parents, James Lamar Blanton and Frances Woodward Blanton; brother, Franklin Lamar Blanton; sister, Janice Blanton Anglin.
He is survived by his brothers, Charles Carey Blanton and wife Julie, J. Roger Blanton and wife Marcia, and brother-in-law, Frank Anglin, all of Lakeland, FL, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2015 at Crossroads Baptist Church, 6129 U.S. 98, South, Lakeland, FL. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Byron Hendry officiating.
