Mrs. Lena Sellers Childress

FORT MEADE - Mrs. Lena Sellers Childress, 64, passed away at her home in Fort Meade on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Lena was born December 4, 1958 and a member of the Fort Meade High School graduating class of 1976. She was a homemaker and caregiver for many Fort Meade families, a second mother to many of Fort Meade's youth, and of the Baptist faith.

Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Childress; parents, Walter D. and Kathleen Woodham Sellers; sister, Robin Sellers, and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Cooley and Jake Childress; daughters, Misty, Kilgore-Bendit, Kimberly Cooley, Angie Childress, and Clea Lastinger; brother, Neil Sellers; fourteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fort Meade Recreational Park in the back pavilion on Sunday, March 26, 2023, with a family visitation and lunch from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., and services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend.
