FORT MEADE - Mrs. Lillie A. Collins, 91, passed away Thurs., June 27, 2013 in Rockledge, FL of heart failure. Mrs. Collins was born in Garland, St. Landry Parish, LA on Nov. 24, 1921 and was a former longtime resident of Fort Meade, Lake Wales and Polk County. Mrs. Collins was a devoted Baptist minister's wife for 51 years and served for many years with her husband, Rev. Glenn Collins, Sr. She was also an elementary school teacher with the Polk County School Board for 30 years, and member of Pine View Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, MS. Mrs. Collins was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #104 in Lake Wales, Fl, Polk Retired Education Assoc., Florida Assoc. of Retired Teachers, and a longtime Sunday School and Training Union teacher. Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her parents, Bedford Harold Hale and Mary Lee Spears Hale, husband, Rev. Glenn J. Collins, Sr., son, Glenn J. Collins, Jr., and three brothers. She is survived by her son, Solon Collins and wife Janice, Rockledge, FL; former daughter in law, Evelyn Collins Bond, Hattiesburg, MS; grandchildren, Dawne, Karey, Glenda, Mandy, Teresa and Karen; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade.
