FORT MEADE - Margurette Jane Skipper, age 87, passed away surrounded by family on August 29, 2022 at Good Shepard Hospice, Sebring, FL. Margurette was born March 29, 1935 in Calgary, GA and had lived in Fort Meade for the past 63 years. She was a loving mother and owner of several businesses during her life time. Memories of hamburgers and sodas could have been at the A&W Root Beer Stand in Fort Meade, managed by she and husband Amos Skipper, or her familiar face of many years of working at Western Auto in Fort Meade as their book keeper where she retired. Margurette enjoyed playing dominoes and cards, attended the First Baptist Church Bowling Green, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Strickland and Roselle Scott Williams, loving husband Amos L Skipper, brothers- James Wyley Williams (Jimmy), Thomas Harold Williams (Tommy), Ira Strickland Jr, Macke Strickland, sisters- Shirley Ann Williams Gay, Linda Williams Tiller.
She is survived by loving daughter, Wanda Newman and son-in-law Vaciel Newman, grandson Christopher Newman, sister Glenda Lue Williams Davis and husband Larry Davis, Frances Locke and husband Carl Locke.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade, FL, with funeral services following at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Scott Tharp officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
