FORT MEADE - Mr. Marlen Dell Goodridge, 85, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in Fort Meade, FL. Mr. Goodridge was born August 19, 1938 in Henagar, AL, and has been a resident of Fort Meade for many years. He was retired from Mobil Chemical Co. after nearly 40 years of service working in the maintenance dept. and as a welder. He later farmed blueberries in Lakeland at the Shady Oaks Fruit Farm. Mr. Goodridge was a member of the First Church of God in Fort Meade where he was a longtime Board member, and recently attended the 10th St. Church of God in Lakeland. He was a 1957 graduate of Fort Meade High School, and served as a Board member to Warner Southern College in Lake Wales.
Mr. Goodridge was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Eunice Crow Goodridge; wife, Effie Goodridge; second wife, Sherry Boyett; brother, Billy Goodridge; and sister, Iona Barnett.
He is survived by his son, Richard Goodridge; daughters, Renee Phoebus and husband Tom, and Teresa Carroll and husband Bruce; sister, Brenda Albritton and husband John; grandchildren, Aaron, Billy, Josh, Jeffrey, Megan and Mason; great-grandchildren, J.T., Jacob, Paisley, Harley, Carter, Emmalyn, Carson, Stella and Savannah.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2024 from the graveside in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade with Pastor Tyler Kenney officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to: Warner Southern College, Heart Ministries, 13895 U.S. Hwy. 27, Lake Wales, FL 33859.
