ARCADIA - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Adams, 87, passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 in Avon Park, FL. Mrs. Adams was born in Blountstown, FL on Nov. 24, 1926 and was a longtime resident of Fort Meade before moving to Arcadia in 1970. She was a homemaker, raising ten children, and a citrus fruit sectionizer, working for Donald Duck in Lake Wales and Ben Hill Griffin. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Gardner Baptist Church in Gardner, FL, and a former longtime member of Lake Buffum Baptist Church of Fort Meade. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence O. Adams; sons, John Adams and Richard Adams, daughter, Marilyn Turner; daughter-in-law, Frances Adams, and brother, George Robert Senterfitt. She is survived by her sons, Spencer Adams, Fort Meade, FL, Edward Adams and wife Delta, Arcadia, FL, Deleon Adams and wife Mary Rose, Phillipines, Lawrence A. Adams, Rayford, FL; daughters, Zelda Harrell and husband Peck, Zolfo Springs, FL, Virginia Cochran and husband Milton, Bowling Green, FL, Carolyn Long and husband Brian, Melbourne, FL, Linda Quinn and husband Buck, Bartow, FL; twenty-two grandchildren, fifty three great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Hancock Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Joe Parrish officiating.
