FORT MEADE - Mrs. Phyllis Clark Daughtrey, 80, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at her home in Fort Meade, FL. Mrs. Daughtrey was born November 28, 1934 in Noblesville, IN and been a resident of Fort Meade for many years. She was a homemaker and loved to stay active in her church, community and her with her hobbies. Mrs. Daughtrey was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Meade for over 60 years, where she was a Sunday School and Training Union teacher, member of the Women's Missionary Union, helped with children in the VBS, Mission Friends and Sunbeams programs, and was head of the outreach Extension Dept. for 22 years. She was also a graduate of Boca Grande, FL High School in 1952, a teacher for the Sunshine Kids, a member of Fort Meade Historical Society, and loved painting and working on her arts and crafts in her spare time.
Mrs. Daughtrey was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Daughtrey, Sr., who she married in Boca Grande, FL in June 3, 1952; brothers, Frederick Clark, Don Clark and Richard Clark; sister, Betty Clark.
She is survived by her sons, Carl L. Daughtrey, Jr. and wife Debbie, and Stephen D. Daughtrey, all of Fort Meade, FL; brother, John Clark, Port Charlotte, FL; sister, Esther Dolan, DeFuniak Springs, FL; grandchildren, Carla Ann Daughtrey and Brian Carl Daughtrey; great-grand-daughter, Celeste Danielle Chambliss.
Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, 307 E. Broadway, Fort Meade with Rev. Kenny Slay officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade, FL. For those wishing, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
