FROSTPROOF - Mr. Ralph Floyd Ross, 92, passed away April 22, 2016 in Sebring, FL. Mr. Ross was born June 20, 1923 in Glassport, PA and moved to the Fort Meade and Frostproof area several years ago. He was a retired maintenance foreman for Westinghouse Electric in Pennsylvania, and began his career there shortly out of high school. Mr. Ross graduated McKeesport High School in McKeesport, PA, and then became a WW II United States Army Air Corps veteran, serving in the south Pacific with several decorations and medals. He was of the Methodist faith, a member of the Board of Directors of West Moreland County Agricultural Fair and Recreational Association, and a member of the Polled Hereford Cattleman Association in PA. After his retirement and moving to Florida, Mr. Ross lived in North Fort Myers, and then moved to Fort Meade serving as the Florida Flywheeler's caretaker for 14 years.
Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie L. Ross; parents, Donald O. and Nina Wilkes Ross; brother, Norman Ross and sister, Kit Tabor.
He is survived by his daughters, Judith M. Saftner, Damascus, MD, Pamela J. Brandt, Butler, PA, and Beverly D. Stillwagon, Frostproof, FL; brother, William G. Ross, Elizabeth, PA; grandchildren, Charles V. Saftner and Kathryn L. Saftner, both of Maryland; one great-grandchild, Victor Saftner of Maryland.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date, and will be held in November at the Florida Flywheeler's in Fort Meade, FL.
