Richard A. Maits

FORT MEADE - Mr. Richard Allen "Rick" Maits, 86, passed away Wed., August 22, 2012 in Auburndale. Mr. Maits was born June 18, 1926 in Bartow, FL and moved to Fort Meade from Abbeville, AL in 2001. He was retired from the Polk County Board of County Comissioners, a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran and attended the Lina Vista Baptist Church in Auburndale. Rick enjoyed fishing, lending a helping hand to other people, and relied daily on his faith in God. Mr. Maits was preceded in death by his wife, Azalene Maits, and son, Fred Howard Maits. He is survived by his special friend, Glenda Kirkland, Auburndale, FL; daughter, Pamela Hammac, Winter Haven, FL; grandson, Mark Warburton, Fort Meade, FL; multiple other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm Friday, August 24, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Hancock Funeral Home, Fort Meade with Pastor Larry Matheny officiating.
