FORT MEADE - Mrs. Suzanne Painter Crews, 64, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, at
her home in Ft. Meade, FL. Mrs. Crews was born January 31, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in nursing (RN, BSN) . She was a registered nurse at the Florida Hospital, Heartland Division, where she was Coordinator for the Faith Community Nursing Program (IPNRC). She was an Army veteran and also served as a missionary for the International Mission Board (SBC) in Tanzania, Africa, with her husband from 1986-1998. She also taught school in the Polk County school system from 1998-2007.
Mrs. Crews was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Painter, Sr. and sister, Mary A. Painter.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. John E. Crews , Fort Meade; sons, Joel Matthews Crews, Orlando, FL, and Jeffrey David Crews, Fort Meade; daughters, Melinda Beth Gill and husband, Jerred, Branson, MO, and Lisa Michelle Crews, Fort Meade; mother, Millicent Painter, Brandon, FL; brothers, Ralph D. Painter,Jr. and wife Genevieve, Brandon, FL, John F. Painter and wife, Donna, Oviedo, FL, James E. Painter and wife, Beth, Tampa, FL; sisters, Louise A. Albritton and husband, Vinson, Whittier, NC, Martha Painter, Seffner, FL, and three grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Hancock Funeral Home Chapel, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church at the Mall with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jerry Goodell officiating.
