Tonya Gillispie Moseley

FORT MEADE - Tonya Gillispie Moseley, 53, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 in Bartow, FL.  Tonya was born November 29, 1970 in Bartow, FL and was a member of a pioneer Polk County and Fort Meade family, along with being a lifelong member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Fort Meade. Tonya graduated from Fort Meade High School in 1988 and went on to attend Orlando Travel Academy and Polk State College.  She worked with the Polk County School Board in Student Services and also with Crystal Water as a Customer Service Representative. 

     Tonya was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip J. and Sylvia J. Gillispie; maternal grandparents Morton and Ira Jones, paternal grandparents, Zebbie and Ethel Gillispie;  uncles, Leon Cariaga and Zebbie Lane Gillispie; and aunt, Winifred Cariaga.

     She is survived by her son, Tad Mitchell Moseley; daughter, Sylvie Lynn Wyatt; sister, Lisa Gillispie Sharp; aunts and uncles, Paulette Gillispie, Casey and Faye Kerse, and Cline Jones. Tonya was affectionally known as "Lola" to her grandchildren, Haven, Alivia, Corbin and Carter.  She also had many cousins,  extended family members and friends.

    A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade with Pastor Dwaine Willis officiating.  A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service.
