Mr. Vaughn Hicks

WAKEMAN, OHIO - Mr. Vaughn Hicks, 78, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, November 9, 2015 after a short stay in the Bartow, Florida hospital. Vaughn was born September 26, 1937 in Scott County, TN and was a resident of Wakeman, OH for many years while also residing in Fort Meade, FL during the winter months. He was retired from Ford Motor Company, where he was a member of the UAW #425. He was of the Baptist faith and also a member of the Oberlin Masonic Lodge. Vaughn loved to have projects and fix things and gained his nickname "Mr. Haney" by this hobby.
He was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 43 years, Genneda Kay Hicks, and several brothers.
Vaughn is survived by his sons, Stephen M. Hicks and wife Laurel, Knotts Island, NC, Mark V. Hicks, Wakeman, OH; daughter, Kathy D. Collier and husband Joe, Wakeman, OH; companion, Beverly Oney; brother, Curtis Hicks and wife Carol; several step brothers and sisters; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his special dog friend, Cosco.
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16, 2015 at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, OH 44809. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local Humane Society shelter.
