Mrs. Vera Brown Pendley

Fort Meade - Mrs. Vera Christine Brown Pendley, 74, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in Lakeland, FL. Vera was born October 25, 1946 in Bartow, FL and was a lifelong resident of Fort Meade. She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family, and for several years she also worked at The Strawberry Patch Hallmark Card & Gift Shop in Fort Meade and also part time for Peace River Packing Co. Vera was a very active member of the First Baptist Church, where she took part in nearly every facet of the church. She was a longtime choir member, worked many years with summer Bible School, spent many hours in the kitchen helping with meals for bereaved families, traveled many times as a counselor on youth retreats, and most of all she loved working with young children where she worked in the nursery and with the 4-5 year olds and primary departments.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Park Trammell Brown and Esther Vera Wyser Brown; brothers, Billy Brown and Robert Brown; sister, Johnnie Ruth Bailey; mother-in-law, Louise Pendley; brother-in-law, Robert Pendley.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Pendley, Fort Meade, FL; daughters, Louise Pendley Shadrick & husband Mike, Eagle Lake, FL; Ruth Anne Walker and husband Denton, Lakeland, FL; Sherrry Graddy and husband Wayne, Bartow, FL; Chris Johnson, Pine Mountain, GA; Rachael Richardson and husband Lee, Bartow, FL; Miranda Champavannarath and husband Kon, Bartow, FL; brothers, Frankie Brown, Zolfo Springs, FL, Glenn Brown, Sebring, FL; sisters, Brenda Richardson, Fort Meade, FL, Linda Barnes, Citra, FL; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; two grand-dogs and one grand-cat; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 307 E. Broadway, Fort Meade, Friday, September 24, 2021. Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kenny Slay officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
